Who is eligible to compete?

  • The State Championships are open to all Indiana Middle School Track & Field athletes.  To be eligible to compete, the athlete must meet the qualifying standard of having one of the top marks in each event (quantity in each event posted on information page).
    • Athletes will be invited in ranking order until all competitors are registered in each event.
  • All individuals on a team must attend the same Indiana middle school.
    • If an athlete’s Middle School does NOT offer Track & Field as a team sport, and the athlete competed during the season for a Middle School, then the athlete may compete in the State Championships as a member of the team they competed on during the season.
  • Only athletes who are enrolled during the 2018-2019 school year in Grades 6, 7, or 8 in a school located within Indiana may participate in the State Championships. This includes those who are home-schooled.
    • Home-schooled athletes competing for a school must have competed for the same middle school during the season.

How are the top athletes ranked?

Coaches must create a team account at www.athletic.net

Once the account is created, the coach will add meets and athletes.

When results from meets are uploaded throughout the season on the Athletic.net site, the athlete’s marks will populate each event.

How will coaches register athletes ranked in the top 24/48?

The rankings will officially close on May 11.  The coaches of the top ranked athletes in each event will have from May 11 until 10am May 15th to register. The top ranked athletes designated for each event will then be registered to fill the set amount. Example: 74 athletes in the 100m register to compete. Only the top 48 of those registered will qualify to compete and only those 48 will be charged at registration close.
