Qualifying Guidelines

 

The Indiana State Middle School Track and Field Championships qualifying guidelines for each event are listed below. Your coach must submit entries through Athletic.net in order for you to qualify. Simply seeing that your name on the Indiana Rankings does not reserve you a spot in the meet.

The TOP 48 entries submitted in the 100 Meters, 200 Meters & 100M/110M Hurdles qualify for the Indiana State Middle School Track and Field Championships. Preliminary rounds will be held with top 2 in each heat, then 4 remaining fastest times, 16 advancing to 2-Heat Finals.


The TOP 32 entries submitted in the 400 Meters, 800 Meters, 1600 Meters, and 2400 Meters, qualify for the Indiana State Middle School Track and Field Championships. Timed Finals.


The TOP 24 relay teams entered with verified seed times in the 400m, 1600m, and 3200m Relays (Top 32 in 3200m Relay) qualify for the Indiana State Middle School Track and Field Championships. Timed Finals, Example: seeds 17-24 in heat 1, seeds 9-16 in heat 2, seeds 1-8 in heat 3..


The TOP 24 entries submitted in the Long Jump, Shot Put, & Discus Throw, qualify for the Indiana State Middle School Track and Field Championships. Top 9 throw in Finals. **If a tie exists for the 24th place, then more will be qualified to compete. Ex: 8 individuals have 4' 7" at 24th place in High Jump, all will be eligible.


The TOP 24 entries submitted in the High Jump qualify for the Indiana State Middle School Track and Field Championships. **If a tie exists for the 24th place, then more will be qualified to compete. Ex: 8 individuals have 4' 7" at 24th place in High Jump, all will be eligible.  Starting heights will be 4'6" for girls and 5'2" for boys.


The TOP 16 entries submitted in the Pole Vault qualify for the Indiana State Middle School Track and Field Championships. **If a tie exists for the 16th place, then more will be qualified to compete. Ex: 8 individuals have 7' 7" at 16th place in Pole Vault, all will be eligible.


Notes for those that qualify:

  1. An athlete may compete in a maximum of 4 events, including relays. (Even an alternate)
  2. Relay teams need to wear uniform tops that are the same.
